Since I was little and started to have a concept of the problems in the world, I wondered why people couldn't just get together and talk them out and come up with a plan they could all agree on. Most adults would chuckle at this, and still do. Now I have a better idea of why this is so diffcult, but I still believe it's possible.
At first I thought that the academic study of Philosophy would help me to foster this dialogue. I'm glad I spent my university years studying in the abstract, but I eventually realized that I would never be fulfilled as a lifetime scholar. I had kept a lifetime interest in the potential of the web on the back burner, and when I made my decision to abandon the Ph.D. track, I dove headfirst into organizing. For the last few years I have really been enjoying being an active participant in real projects. You can find that story at http://mudball.net/mattcoop/past/
I have a very good feeling about the potential here at OK.

Nathan is by some measure what is experienced and interpreted by his bodily and environmental material structure. Well--that's me!! 'I'--dammit!! I like things and I ill of things. I'll try to like them if you do, if I want you to like me. I'm a huge fan of reality, both 'hard' and 'soft' in some series of continuously adaptive and static combinations; or neither when reality disappoints. I like froggies. Don't get me started on froggies! Music--musical froggies!! Call me when in need. I'll do my best to understand.

I am a member of Radical Inclusion and helped organize the virtual side of Participation Camp. My main professional intention is to leverage communications technology (in particular the web) to stimulate collective action and collaboration from positive social change in communities, organizations, or ecosystems.
Before going solo and starting Radical Inclusion with Suresh Fernando and 4 others from Germany, England, and the US, I was supporting a network of researchers called Collective Action and Property Rights Program (CAPRi). For more on my work there check out my blog.

Suresh Fernando
My professional background over the last number of years has primarily been focused on providing financing and strategic advisory services to early stage technology companies. During this period I came to realize that my interest in technology had nothing to do with the potential to create material wealth. What interested me was the implications that the evolution of the internet and the communications infrastructure for changing patterns of behaviour, community formation, ways of working together etc.
It became apparent to me that the forces at play were creating the conditions for thousands, if not millions, of people and organizations to align their interests in a manner that would allow them to work together; that the era of massive collaboration was just around the corner.
In understanding this, it became apparent to me that this is making it possible to solve seemingly intractable problems such climate change, poverty, global conflict etc. It is to this end that I am interested in working towards.
